U-torrent has its derivation from Bit torrent itself. Bit-torrent was created to share files of larger dimensions which was not able to share on other platforms. It can share every video and tv series clips. Earlier Bit torrent was used just like the purpose of sharing files rather than downloading files with .torrent extension. it follows peer to peer transmission which once in Feb 2009 accounted for 43% to 70% of internet traffic. Even in Feb 2013 Bit torrent was responsible for 3.35% of all worldwide bandwidth that is more than half of the 6% bandwidth dedicated to file sharing.
after such a large popularity its creators thought to make it an online trading platform. Which will share files in one hand and even get file recommendation on the other hand
Created by programmer Bran cohen in the year 2009 April. It was launched in the same year next month.it is now maintained by his company Bit torrent.inc.

Later U torrent was an idea proposed by Serge Paquet to Ludwig Strigeus. Strigius started working on the idea proposed late nights after he came home after work. Later Utorrent was released sometime near September 2005.

On December 7,2006 U torrent was purchased by Bit torrent.inc In April 2017 Cohem announced the release of a new torrent version that will be a web browser which will allow its user to stream torrent from the console itself by using lime torrent as its search provider.
