Disabling auto updates


DISABLING WINDOWS AUTO-UPDATES:-

First of all windows update is a system procedure through which windows updates our system software, driver packages automatically once an update is available.

Windows 10  has a new feature of its own system settings which was available even in windows 8.1.which even makes disabling or enabling system settings or any settings, even more, easier because we get settings application in two fronts one by the system control panel and other by windows settings



METHODS BY WHICH WE CAN DISABLE AUTO-UPDATES:-


  • Control panel for beginners easy.
  • Windows10 settings easy.
  • Using a service portal for pros.




BY CONTROL PANEL:-

  • Open control panel by right-clicking on the start button on the lower-left corner.
  • If not set too large icons set it by clicking the popup menu on the upper right corner.
  • Select windows update from the app icons visible on the screen .Else if not getting search it directly on the search bar on the upper right corner.
  • look for an auto-update section on the left side options.
  • Go for disabling auto-updates by selecting of the auto update button.




BY WINDOWS 10 SETTINGS:-

  • Open settings by going to start and clicking on settings the icon on lower left bottom corners just above shut down button.
  • Find the option of updates and security, open it.
  • Go to advanced option.
  • And of all the three checkboxes present  Namely for the update, reminders etc clear all.
  • Settings will be applied once you close the window.



BY USING SERVICE PORTAL:-

  • Search services in lower left home screen taskbar or directly using Cortana.
  • Right-click on services application and run it as administrator.
  • A window will open and many settings options particularly active x installer, adobe genuine software etc will be visible
  • One left-click on any and press "w" from the keyboard then find windows update option and right-click on it and go to properties option.
  • One more window will open and in front, it will be having startup type and most probably it will be set to automatic.
  • If u want no updates at all set it to disable but for only disabling auto-update, select manually in that drop-down option.
  • Select apply and then stop the service by clicking the stop button in front of the window. 
  • Restart the system.
